The Jazz LAB Ensemble from Ball State University visiting Beijing Contemporary Music Academy (CMA) and giving performance
As one of the best collegiate jazz bands in the USA, the Jazz Lab Ensemble from Ball State University (BSU) based in Indiana visited CMA recently and brought authentic and pure jazz experience to audiences at CMA’s 1,500 square meter studio hall. Director of the School of Music in the College of Fine Arts at BSU, John W. Scheib, Director of Jazz Studies at BSU, Mark Buselli, and Chairperson of the Department of Art in the College of Fine Arts at BUS, Thomas Riesing, also visited CMA along with the ensemble. Vice-president of CMA, Li Ping, gave a warm welcome and friendly conversation to them, and watched the performance.
Members of the ensemble displayed high enthusiasm and skillful techniques, letting students and teachers of CMA learn what the real Jazz is. Furthermore, their heavenly vocal gave audiences a refreshing feeling and wonderful experience, pushing the performance to the climax. CMA’s jazz ensemble formed by students of Jazz School also brought fantastic performance. Their excellent techniques were applauded by their foreign counterparts. In spite of language barrier, CMA’s jazz students well collaborated with Jazz Lab Ensemble through communication and interaction in music. The highlighted co-performance enhanced mutual friendship and was rounded off with loud applause of the audiences.
